Yard Waste Season
Collection of curbside yard waste material is available to all Buckingham residential customers and will officially begin the first full week of April and shall continue through the last full week of November. (weather permitting)
Customers & non-customers can utilize our disposal & recycle center by dropping off their yard waste at our facility in Prior Lake for a fee. The drop off is an option year round.
Yard waste cannot be mixed in the trash container per 115A.931 Yard Waste; prohibition. Visit the website Sec. 115A.931 MN Statutes
Buckingham Offers Several Yard Waste Options For Your Convenience:
Weekly Yard Waste Collection
Buckingham residential customers have the option of the most preferred level of service offered with our weekly seasonal cart and yard bag/bundle collection. This service includes a Buckingham furnished 95 gallon wheeled cart that can be placed at the curb along with up to 25 additional compost bags/bundles of brush. Not to exceed 25 total in the week. All additional yard waste must be in brown, paper compostable yard waste bags available at most hardware stores and home center retailers. Please contact our office at 952-226-6441 to find out rates for the upcoming year.
*Cancellation of this type of service is prohibited until the entire seasonal rate has been paid in full.
*A fee for delivering the compost cart will be applied. (if yard waste service is not set up with the start of service of trash/recycle services)

Will Call Yard Waste Collection
A second option is to be on “will call”. Simply call our office 24 hours before your service day and let us know how many bags or bundles you will have at the curb. The cost is $4 per bag (plus fuel).

Drop Off At Our Disposal & Recycle Center in Prior Lake
Finally, since we are in the community, all are welcome to bring their yard waste to us! We accept drop off year round. The compostable bags and bundles of brush are $1 per bag or bundle. Brush bundles cannot be more than 4′ length or larger than 4” diameter. The minimum fee for a trailer load or truck bed is $35.00.
*No plastic bags accepted.

Acceptable Yard Waste Includes:
- Brush Bundles (tie and bundle all brush. Brush must not exceed four inches in diameter or four feet in length and will not be picked up curbside if not bundled)
- Grass clippings
- Tree waste (including leaves, pine needles, pine cones, spruce tips, acorns, apples, etc)
- Weeds (all common lawn weeds, lake weeds* are not acceptable)
- Garden waste (including fruits, vegetables, pumpkins, cornhusks, etc)
- Straw or hay
All items should be placed loosely in the yard waste cart, overfilling or packing the container too heavy (over 175 lbs) will prevent safe collection of the waste. Individual yard waste bags should not exceed 40 lbs.
Unacceptable Yard Waste Includes:
- Sod
- Lake weeds
- Tree stumps
- Branches longer than 4 feet or larger than 4 inch diameter
- Rocks
- Lumber and treated wood*
- Dirt/soil
- Manure or pet waste
- Landscape materials* (edging, fabric, etc)
- Plastic plant pots or containers*
- Wood chips or mulch (uncolored and colored)
- Firewood
*(Accepted ONLY at the Disposal & Recycle Center for a fee)
